About

Ambri

Ambri is an early stage company commercializing a low cost energy storage solution, known as the Liquid Metal Battery (LMB). Ambri will change the way electric grids are operated worldwide by enabling the more widespread use of renewable generation like wind and solar, reducing power prices and increasing system reliability. Ambri's LMB technology was invented in the lab of Dr. Donald Sadoway, a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The research on campus has been supported by the DOE's ARPA-E program, the French energy company Total, the Deshpande Center, and the Chesonis Family Foundation. Ambri was founded in 2010 with the goal of commercializing the technology. Ambri's investors include Khosla Ventures, Bill Gates, Total, KLP Enterprises and GVB.
