VP of Finance
We are hiring a Vice President of Finance to lead and scale Liminal’s corporate finance efforts. As a key member of our leadership team, our VP of Finance will report to the CEO. They will inform company strategy and support executive decisions from a financial perspective, and ensure we use our resources efficiently and effectively. The ideal candidate has deep experience in hardware and software businesses, and is at their best when developing financial insights and making actionable recommendations. They take initiative, enjoy working with others to identify opportunities and risks, and can drive business results in the face of ambiguity. This role is based at our headquarters in Emeryville, CA.
Responsibilities
- Create and use financial data to challenge assumptions, help make strategic and operational decisions, and provide actionable advice about all aspects of our business.
- Build financial models to illustrate the implications of business models and scenarios.
- Ensure proper, accurate, and timely reconciliation and reporting of financial statements.
- Develop and professionalize our financial tools, processes, and policies, building a foundation for rapid growth and ensuring audit readiness.
- Lead financial planning and forecasting as well as company- and department-level budget development, implementation, and reporting.
- Develop and manage the financial and business controls necessary to ensure Liminal effectively evaluates risk, protects its assets, and effectively uses its financial resources.
- Collaborate across teams to maintain accurate and realistic revenue and cost forecasts.
- Understand, create, track, and report on metrics for the levers that drive positive unit economics for Liminal’s products as well as our company’s long-term financial health.
- Partner with the CEO on investor relations, investor reporting, and financing activities.
- Find and manage sources of non-equity capital, including debt financing, grants, etc.
- Oversee and work with bookkeeping and accounting service providers.
- As Liminal grows, build and manage our Finance team. Requirements ### Minimum Requirements
- A passion for working to accelerate the global transition to clean energy.
- 10+ years in corporate finance, with 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Experience in finance at hardware, equipment, or manufacturing businesses.
- Experience building detailed models for forecasting and scenario planning.
- Experience working across teams to develop, implement, and enforce budgets.
- Ability to analyze financial data and clearly communicate underlying narratives.
- Experience presenting to and working with executive teams, investors, and Boards.
- Experience hiring and managing a cohesive, collaborative team.
- Working knowledge of GAAP, and experience developing relevant financial policies.
- Experience implementing business and financial controls to support accurate reporting. ### Nice to haves
- 3+ years of executive-level experience in corporate finance.
- Experience in finance or accounting at software businesses.
- Experience working at high-growth startup from Series A through commercial ramp, including providing strategic support on fundraising and debt financing.
- Previous experience developing accounting, financial, and investor relations policies. Benefits
