UAV Field Engineer

The Role
The UAV Field Engineer will work within the Field Operations team to keep the fleet of UAV and payload systems in working order and assist in the testing of the systems we are developing in house. A good understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, a passion for fixing things and an appreciation for the planet we live on will go a long way towards being successful in this job.
The UAV Field Engineer will report directly to the Operations Development Manager.
Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Maintain and repair all UAV and payload equipment used in the field,
- Test equipment in field conditions to validate desired behavior,
- Advise the Operations team on how to best use the equipment.
- Interface with the engineering team to relay back operational issues and implement the latest improvements onto the serviceable fleet,
Requirements
Required skills and experience:
- Experience with the construction and maintenance of automated mechatronic systems,
- Robust understanding of UAV inner workings (IMUs, control boards, ESCs, etc) for the purpose of building and debugging,
- Strong Computer Aided Design experience, preferably with Fusion360
- Strong 3D printing experience
- Good electronics knowledge
- The ability to never get bored by problem-solving and debugging
- Experience with embedded C/C++ programming
Extra awesome:
- Experience with embedded C/C++ programming
- Commercial drone flying experience
- Understanding of UAV dynamics, navigation and control
