Field to Market: The Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture™ is a 501(c)(3) organization that brings together a diverse alliance of grower groups; agribusiness companies; food, fiber, restaurant and retail companies; conservation groups; universities and public sector partners to focus on promoting, defining and measuring the sustainability of row crops for food, feed, fiber and fuel production.

Field to Market seeks a Measuring, Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MMRV or MRV) Manager. This individual will play a key role in the organization’s participation in agricultural and sustainability-related grants that provide technical and financial assistance to U.S. commodity producers, measure the effectiveness of conservation practices, and track the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions and environmental co-benefits.

Contingent on a recent grant award contract, this position will be funded for at least five years and may be extended based on the success of the program. This role will report to the Grants Program Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the MMRV Manager on a small, but highly functioning team supporting a critical grant.
  • Further refine, strengthen, apply best practices, and implement a measuring, monitoring, reporting, and verification plan for our grant, based on Field to Market’s existing process-based standard and in accordance with the grant requirements.
  • Develop a standardized and streamlined process for the routine collection, aggregation, review, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) and reporting of quality, comprehensive data sets from across multiple partners in accordance with grant requirements.
  • Work alongside other grant team members on a routine basis, including science, data and technology team members, to accomplish grant goals and deliverables.
  • Monitor project activities, outputs and progress towards anticipated results.
  • Train grant partners in monitoring and verification processes. Prepare reports and presentations to include communicating progress, trends, issues and insights for project partners and external stakeholders.
  • Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned and necessary to support program activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university, or equivalent combination of education and work history in data science, environmental science, or another related field.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in a role focused on implementing and managing MMRV processes and methods related to modeled and measured greenhouse gas (GHG) benefits and environmental co-benefits.
  • Working knowledge of GHG accounting protocols, standards, methods and tools, agricultural conservation practices, geographic information systems, and verification approaches.
  • Impeccable analytical, organizational, and data management skills with the ability to manage large and complex data sets with an eye toward process improvement and quality assurance and quality control.
  • Knowledge of USDA COMET Planner is highly desirable.
  • Experience with federal grants MMRV requirements desirable
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines with attention to detail.

  • Travel required: up to 15%. At times, travel may be expected on short notice. Travel and other work-related assignments may include evenings and weekends.
  • This position may require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

This position is hybrid, based in Washington, D.C. Currently, staff are in the office one day per week (more often as needed) and remote for the remainder.

Compensation:

This is a full-time exempt position. The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience starting at $85K.
