Senior Electrical Design Engineer
Twelve is a new kind of chemical company built for the climate era. Our breakthrough technology eliminates emissions by turning CO2 into essential products. We are a team of scientists, engineers and problem solvers on a mission to fundamentally shift the way the world addresses climate change and lead the transition to a fossil free future with our carbon transformation technology.
Job Brief
In this role, you will have an impact on Twelve’s mission to lead the way to a fossil free future through carbon transformation. You will be an integral part of the Twelve’s development of CO2 conversion processes. Your responsibilities will include designing the electrical and power systems for modular, scalable electrolyzer systems that will convert CO2 into myriad value-add products. You will be closely partnering with R&D, Capital Projects, and external vendors while reporting to the Director of Product Development. In collaboration with these teams, you will develop and lead the electrical design initiatives for large scale electrolyzer systems through the entire product life cycle. We are looking for someone who is excited about Twelve’s mission as well as this dynamic engineering role within a fluid startup environment.
What you will do
- Develop electrical and power systems designs for large scale electrolyzer systems including generating electrical schematics, harness drawings, wiring diagrams, and electrical equipment and instrument specifications.
- Work with process and controls engineers on electrical and instrumentation designs.
- Collaborate with R&D and Capital Projects teams to integrate the electrical and power system designs per applicable standards.
- Lead the electrical and power systems design from concept to detail design through manufacturing and site commissioning.
- Participate in safety studies, such as arc flash and HAZOP studies.
Who you are
- You have a bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering or a related STEM degree and 6+ years of experience working as an electrical engineer
- You are experienced with system scale-up and electrical design for process plants.
- You have experience with specifying and operating electrical equipment such as rectifiers/converters, large power transformers, switchgear (LV and MV), control systems, MCCs, protections systems, batteries and controls hardware.
- You are excellent with engineering studies and calculations such as load flow, short circuit analysis, motor starting, relay coordination, arc flash and grounding studies.
- You are experienced with NEC, NFPA, IEC, NEMA, ANSI, IEEE and BS standards.
- You have a strong desire and curiosity about learning new things.
- You are able to thrive in a dynamic, ambiguous, collaborative, and hands-on environment.
