Living Carbon is a public benefit corporation with a mission to responsibly rebalance the planet’s carbon cycle using the inherent power of plants. We believe that gigaton scale CO2 drawdown will only happen if solutions are both beneficial to the environment and profitable to landowners. We’ve developed photosynthesis-enhanced seedlings that capture carbon faster on underperforming and degraded land. In addition to improving carbon capture rates we are also working on extending the durability of nature based sequestration. We’re backed by some of the most prominent investors in Silicon Valley including Temasek, Toyota, Felicis Ventures, Y Combinator, and Chris Sacca of LowerCarbon Capital.

We’re looking for a motivated Recruiter and to take ownership of one of the most critical parts of Living Carbon’s mission: growing our team. Our ideal team member is a flexible self-starter who has experience recruiting in the startup space, and bonus points for additional experience recruiting in Science and/or Climate. We have several open roles across our cross-functional team. We’re looking for someone to help us execute on the challenge of hiring across the organization for multiple high-impact roles starting with our commercial org.

We’d love to hear from you if you are a highly driven, competitive recruiter who wants to help us quickly source, vet, and hire the best possible candidates, while also managing our end-to-end talent acquisition and developing a long-term roadmap for Living Carbon to build our talent network.

What You’ll Do

  • Own end-to-end candidate experience, from high-volume resume review to conducting initial interviews, doing diligence, extending offers, and managing the overall candidate experience
  • Perform proactive, diverse sourcing of passive candidates across our wide range of open roles
  • Serve as the point of contact for all candidate communications and manage the on-site interview process
  • Support and ensure accountability with hiring managers to our ATS (Lever), conduct periodic interview training, and provide additional support for hiring managers as needed
  • Create internal content, such as role summaries, to be easily shared and support employee referrals
  • Work closely with hiring managers to develop interview loops, attributes of ideal candidates and question banks for each role
  • Ask questions and learn from current process to make improvements while aligned with hiring managers goals and priorities
  • Design, implement, and support a 2023 Summer Internship Program for 3-5 summer interns including science and MBA interns
  • Develop and manage our talent network through attending events, conferences, and university outreach

Who You Are

  • Meticulous attention to detail, high degree of professionalism, sense of urgency, accountable, and reliable
  • Out-of-the-box and tenacious thinking when it comes to challenging and specialized roles
  • Hyper focused executor who can prioritize and manage multiple opens roles while effectively communicating with hiring managers
  • Strong ability to be flexible, wear many hats, and collaborative working with hiring managers across the organization
  • An effective self-manager who can design and implement programs in a consistently evolving environment
  • Mission aligned, and excited to learn more about plant biotechnology and how it shapes our team and open roles, we’re looking for, and our recruiting timelines and processes

Education & Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience as an in-house or agency recruiting
  • History of rapid execution on senior hires for early stage startup moving into growth phase
  • Experience helping scope roles with hiring managers and incorporating best practices into existing recruiting processes
  • Experience hiring quickly for commercial teams at fast growing hard science / deep tech / biotech company
  • History of ramping up quickly on business context, needs of hiring managers, and excellent communication skills

- BA/BS or additional experience equivalent
