Efficient finance for the energy transition

Clean energy development is poised to boom, but we urgently need to make sustainable finance more efficient to move as quickly as needed. The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) will make hundreds of billions of dollars of tax credits available to companies building facilities or producing clean power and materials. And for the first time, these credits are transferable – creating a new and powerful market mechanism to fund energy transition projects. The market for transferable tax credits needs new standards, more buyers, expanded financial products, and purpose-built software. 

Crux exists to make sustainable finance more efficient and interconnected. 

Our network and tools help developers, tax credit buyers, and financial institutions transact & manage transferable tax credits by streamlining price discovery, project diligence, transaction closing, and reporting.

Who we are

Crux is founded by Alfred Johnson & Allen Kramer. They previously founded another mission-driven company, Mobilize. Mobilize was acquired by Insight Partners-owned EveryAction in 2020. 

Alfred was most recently Deputy Chief of Staff of the Treasury Department. Before Mobilize, he led Sales & People for Clara Lending, and was a Vice President at BlackRock. Early in his career, he served as a Senior Advisor for Financial Markets at Treasury. Before Mobilize, Allen worked at Bain & Company and Assured Labor.

These funds are joined by individual investors including the founders of multi-billion dollar finance and clean energy companies; top energy finance lawyers; and the partners of leading venture capital firms. What you’ll do

  • Stand up our marketing function and own lead generation across audiences, with a heavy focus on content marketing and lead nurturing
  • Develop and execute innovative marketing strategies to reach and demonstrate thought leadership with clean energy developers, tax credit buyers, banks, syndicators, and advisors
  • Tailor marketing approaches to clearly articulate value propositions to distinct audiences in the clean energy space
  • Collaborate closely with our Markets and Transactions team to align marketing initiatives with business objectives and optimize lead generation
  • Partner with internal and external experts to develop compelling thought leadership and content marketing strategies
  • Build and nurture relationships with key industry stakeholders, influencers, and media partners to amplify our brand presence and authority
  • Analyze and track marketing performance, using insights to continually refine and optimize campaigns
  • Efficiently manage internal and external resources to get the best results, building a high-performing team as-necessary
  • Foster a positive team culture that encourages innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning

Who you are

  • 7+ years of experience in marketing with experience building a content-heavy strategy for technical audiences. Ideally, demonstrated interest and/or experience related to clean energy, tax, and/or other financial products
  • Comfortable leading high-level marketing strategy AND willing to roll up your sleeves and execute
  • Proven track record in building and executing successful marketing campaigns from the ground up across multiple channels and demonstrating results, e.g product launches, content launches, brand marketing, events, and other demand gen campaigns
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with experience in engaging multiple levels of stakeholders with compelling content 
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and the ability to drive high-performing teams
  • Passionate about driving change in the renewable energy sector and excited to contribute to a growing, early-stage company
  • Have collaborated closely with revenue and product teams to deeply understand customers, drive proper messaging, and align on shared metrics
  • Proven ability to build stage-appropriate marketing tech stack and spend resources wisely 
  • Contribute to and help build team culture - in ways that are authentic to you
