Information Technology Specialist
Avalanche is a VC-backed fusion energy start-up based in Seattle, WA. We are building the world’s first micro fusion reactor. Our modular reactor design can be stacked for a wide variety of power applications to provide clean energy and decarbonize the economy. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, organized, and energized by inventive problem solving. The nature of the job will require frequent collaboration with a small team on a wide variety of topics, and the ability to pivot between priorities to support rapid design iterations.

We currently have a full-time position open at our Seattle, WA facility for an Information Technology Specialist focused on building out and maintaining our corporate infrastructure. Responsibilities and Duties:
- Procure, deploy and maintain our technology infrastructure, including but not limited to laptops, desktops, servers, switches, routers and firewalls.
- Automate the configuration and deployment of technology infrastructure with a variety of tools and programming languages.
- Administer SaaS platforms that enable key business functions including identity management, access controls, and more.
- Provide technical support to employees and respond to outages and issues.
- Travel for conferences, meetings or company offsite events as required.
- Troubleshoot and provide technical support for the team.
Qualifications and Skills:
What We're Looking For:
- Proven capability to think critically and learn quickly about unfamiliar concepts.
- A strong bias for automation & willingness to learn new technologies.
- A strong understanding of computer networking.
- Proficiency with Python, Powershell & Bash.
- Experience providing desktop support to users in a professional environment.
- Experience maintaining an inventory of computer hardware.
- Experience deploying and maintaining highly-available enterprise networks.
- Experience with endpoint management & security platforms.
- Experience with infrastructure as code and configuration management tools/languages.
- Experience automating the installation and configuration of Windows applications.
- Due to the nature of some of our work, you must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Bonus Skills:
- Experience with cloud networking.
- Experience with software-defined networking.
- Contributions to open-source projects.
- An understanding of SSO protocols (SAML, OATH, etc.) & identity management platforms.
- An understanding of Site Reliability Engineering principles.
