Electrical Engineer
Essential Job Duties:
This position is responsible for integrating electrical systems and components within ClearFlame vehicles and test cell applications. You will also be responsible for researching, developing, designing, and testing electrical components, equipment, and systems to advance our technology.
- Designs electrical equipment, components, products, and systems for automotive applications.
- Designs and directs engineering personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment.
- Works with production to troubleshoot and improve existing electrical systems.
- Participates in installation of electrical systems utilizing knowledge of electrical principles, hand tools, and measuring instruments.
- Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
- Collaborates with engineering and other personnel to identify, define, and solve problems.
- Plan method and sequence of operations for developing and testing electronic equipment.
- Ensures that manufacturing, build, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
- Directs and coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations.
- Develops project plans and coordinates projects.
- Communicates project changes and progress.
- Completes projects timely.
- Effective communication skills verbal and written.
Education and Experience Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in automotive electric systems or applicable field.
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Electrical Engineering or a related field of study.
- Extensive experience in leu of a degree is acceptable.
- Knowledge and experience with low-voltage, low-power and low-voltage, high power applications.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Has experience in creating PCB (Printed circuit boards)
- Has basic controls experience.
- Read and interpret wiring schematics.
- Controls experience with Automotive calibration tools (Etas-INCA, ATI Vision, Etc.)
- Working Mechanical knowledge
Physical Requirements
- Periods of remaining stationary at a desk and working on a computer
- Stoop, kneel, and bend around engines and equipment.
- Use hands, sight, and hearing for operation of tools and equipment.
- Must be able to lift 25 lb. unassisted at times.
- Travel within the US as needed (25% a month) for meetings and onsite work.
- The position location is onsite at corporate headquarters in Geneva, IL.
