Director, Partnerships and Business Development
This position will lead industry partnerships with key logistics stakeholders -- including but not limited to Beneficial Cargo Owners (BCOs), sustainability-oriented product companies, ports, terminal operators, shipping companies, digital freight marketplaces, and environmental organizations -- in order to drive new business opportunities for Forum and our customers. The goal is to create demand for a differentiated category of zero emission goods movement, and successfully translate that into increased drayage business for Forum Mobility’s customers and growth opportunities for Forum depots and trucks.

Company Overview:
Forum Mobility provides comprehensive heavy duty zero-emission truck solutions for drayage carriers and independent owner operators. We are building a network of electric truck charging depots in and around ports and along common freight corridors, and offer a one-stop solution for charging, or charging plus a class 8 electric truck, at rates competitive with diesel. Forum is building the infrastructure and business models to drive the transition to zero emission freight. Success in this effort means cleaner air for our communities, a safer climate, and lower costs per mile for truckers. Based in Oakland, Forum is currently operating in California with expansion plans.
Position Summary:
This position will lead industry partnerships with key logistics stakeholders -- including but not limited to Beneficial Cargo Owners (BCOs), sustainability-oriented product companies, ports, terminal operators, shipping companies, digital freight marketplaces, and environmental organizations -- in order to drive new business opportunities for Forum and our customers. The goal is to create demand for a differentiated category of zero emission goods movement, and successfully translate that into increased drayage business for Forum Mobility’s customers and growth opportunities for Forum depots and trucks.
The role will report to the EVP of Policy and Communications, and will collaborate with the Sales and Development teams.
The ideal candidate will be an entrepreneur at heart, able to create pathways where there are no maps; an excellent communicator and charismatic zero-emissions goods movement evangelist; able to pursue multiple simultaneous projects; and has the judgement to prioritize strategies that grow the industry. The candidate must possess a motivated attitude that is open to the challenges of a small company in growth-mode and in a burgeoning industry. The position will be located in the Bay Area, within periodic commuting proximity to the Forum Mobility office in downtown Oakland, CA (although other considerations may be made for exceptional candidates). Forum Mobility is currently operating under a hybrid work policy with employees expected in the office during certain but not all days of the week.
Responsibilities:
· Create and execute a strategy to drive demand for zero-emission goods movement
· Develop relationships with BCOs and related stakeholders, build interest in zero-emission goods movement, and position Forum as a trusted partner
· Develop partnerships with key stakeholders in freight -- ports and terminal operators, shipping companies, digital freight marketplaces -- in order to drive new zero-emission freight opportunities
· Collaborate with Sales and Development teams to drive demand for Forum’s charging depots
· Work with trade associations and advocacy organizations to stimulate BCO and sustainability minded product company interest in zero-emission freight, develop and implement best practices for ZEV freight transactions and fleet growth and reward and incentivize industry leadership
· Work with leading digital freight marketplace platforms to help zero-emission drivers and fleets preferentially connect with BCOs
Experience and Qualifications
· Prior partnership or business development experience preferred, with demonstrable success in closing deals
· Candidates with transportation, freight, corporate sustainability, climate policy or energy industry experience are preferred
· Experience managing multiple initiatives simultaneously
· Experience with written and verbal communication across executive leadership team, peers, managers, and other team members
· Excellent attention to detail and data-driven decision-making skills
· Experience in developing and leading novel thought leadership positions, leading partnerships and coalitions or working with stakeholders to advance progress is also helpful
Salary and Benefits:
$150,000 - $175,000, depending on seniority and experience, plus health care plan, matching 401k program, and stock options.
