Work includes project vetting and due diligence; identification of early-stage barriers to bankability for relevant projects; assessment and structuring of climate finance mechanisms such as carbon credits or blue/green bonds; negotiation of tender and regulatory language with governments aimed at overcoming barriers to DFC financing; identifying and implementing creative solutions to complex market- and industry-based challenges in supporting climate and clean energy projects in developing countries; and drafting and/or negotiating transaction or other relevant documents leading to closing. The types of DFC products the Attorney will support may vary, and include project finance, political risk insurance, infrastructure loans, guarantees, and equity. DFC loans can be high or low in dollar values, but often involve complex negotiation and documentation.
