Overview of the Role
BOB commercially cultivates the tetrasporophyte phase of Asparagopsis taxiformis, a filamentous red alga. At each stage of the cultivation and post-harvest process we collect a wide range of data to characterize the production process that are stored in an Airtable database. We utilize all aspects of Airtable and are seeking a candidate with knowledge in this field who knows Javascript programming and data engineering best practices that can grow with us as we continue to scale.
Essential Responsibilities
- We are seeking a candidate who is an experienced database admin and interested in data engineering who can independently handle, after onboarding:
- Maintaining and documenting of existing Automations
- Most of our Automations rely heavily on JavaScript
- Development and adapting of new Forms and/or Automations as needs arise within Operations
- Assessing and Repairing Airtable Automation Scripts for reliability, repeatability and scalability
- Creation of user tutorials and/or documentation for Forms and Automations
- Creation of unit testing for JavaScript Automations
- Correcting data entry mistakes as necessary across multiple Tables
- Archiving, backup of relevant data
- Designing, conducting, and improving data audits and quality checks
- Improving table and field descriptions
- Onboarding new employees granting, & changing as appropriate, Airtable user access levels
- Termination of accounts when employees leave the organization
- Oversight of invoices and billing
- Leverage skills across multiple bases
- Creating new dual-synced bases, that communicate over Airtable Scripts, as production and operations expands

Experience & Abilities
- Database design or admin (2+ years, required -- Airtable preferred)
- JavaScript programming (Backend focused, required -- experience with Airtable Automation's Scripting preferred)
- SQL experience (1 year, preferred)
- Strong interpersonal communication skills (required)
- Location: Remote -- United States of America (required), preference for those based in San Diego County
- Language: Preference for those bi-lingual in English & Spanish
